GPA continues to utilize the social-emotional online program Camp Timber, which is a program we use in grades K-8. Camp Timber is used to teach social and emotional learning, using digital animations, real-life video modeling, songs, e-books, and off-line activities.
This year our 3rd and 4th grade students participated in the Kids Heart Jump-a-Thon, and we were able to raise $300.
Our K-5th grade students have two, twenty-minute recesses each day so they have the opportunity to run around and get fresh air. Our middle school students get mask breaks every period as well as one, twenty-minute recess.
GPA Kindergarten through 5th grade students also participate in GoNoodle, an online program that helps teachers get students moving with short interactive activities in the classroom throughout the day and they collect points for completing activities.
During mandatory e-learning our Nutrition Services continued to provide grab and go curbside service for our GPA families. Families were not only able to pick up lunch, but breakfast for the next morning. When we returned to in-person learning, all students were able to get breakfast and lunch free of charge until the end of 2020.
Our on-site counselor schedules regular lunch meetings with students and makes time to follow up and check in with students needing to talk.
Unfortunately, due to the multiple quarantines we dealt with this school year, we were not able to implement any programs for our staff; we will be starting fresh in the beginning of the 2021 school year with monthly challenges for staff and students.
